Materuni and mandara We absolutely loved our experience with Materuni Tours. They treated us wonderfully, were incredibly patient with us, and the trails were beautiful. I highly recommend our guide, Victus; he's the best, has tons of experience, and is super friendly. As for the accommodation, it's a bit far from the center, but it's well-located for hiking. It's very cozy, and the cook is the best she makes delicious breakfasts.Posted on Tripadvisor

Awesome safari experience We took a 3 day tour. First day to Tanangire National Park, second day to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and third day to Lake Manyara National Park. Arnold was the perfect safari guide. We saw so many animals, including the big five. When we saw something interesting he let us linger and watch for as long as we wanted to. I can’t believe how lucky we were to have a guide with excellent vision and in-depth knowledge about the animals, the plants and the history of the parks and conservation areas. The lodging that they arranged for us, Octagon Lodge, was also excellent. I highly recommend Materuni Tours and hope to book a tour with them again.Posted on Tripadvisor

3 Day Safari Trip I took a 3-day safari trip with Materuni Tours, and the experience was unforgettable. Our tour guide, Arnold, took us through Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater. Arnold shared a lot of information about the animals we saw and brought us to the most breathtaking spots in every park we visited. This trip was an experience of a lifetime, and I highly recommend Materuni Tours to anyone looking for a life-changing safari experience.Posted on Tripadvisor

Materuni Tours Safari Experience I have gone on two 3-day Safari Trips with Materuni Tours and both times were exceptional and life changing. Our tour guide, the riding experience, the places we stayed, and the food we ate were amazing and I always found myself engaged during the long hours riding in the car to see the amazing animals that are viewable at all of the locations we visit. I have recommended Materuni Tours to many of colleagues and people I meet around the world and for those who can make it to Tanzania to experience a tour with then, they always leave happy and in good spirits.Posted on Tripadvisor

3 Day Safari Trip Title: 3 Day Safari Trip Our 3-day safari with Materuni Tours was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Tanzania. We visited Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, and each destination offered something unique and beautiful. A special thank you to our guide, Arnold, who made the trip even more enjoyable. He was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly skilled at spotting wildlife. We saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, baboons, and many other animals in their natural habitat. Arnold shared interesting information throughout the journey and made sure we had a great experience from start to finish. My favorite part of the safari was visiting Ngorongoro Crater. Seeing the hippos up close was amazing, and having lunch by the lake surrounded by such incredible scenery was a moment I’ll never forget. It felt like something out of a nature documentary. The entire trip was well organized, comfortable, and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Materuni Tours to anyone looking for an authentic Tanzanian safari experience. And if you’re lucky enough to have Arnold as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic adventure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 StarsPosted on Tripadvisor

traveled solo and want more Amazing experience around Kilimanjaro and Moshi! The guide was very helpful, educated about history, culture, nature, soil, and local tribe Chagga. We heard these local people singing traditional songs. Also explored coffee fields, saw banana plantations, visited waterfalls, drank fresh water there, and took beautiful photos. I even bought real bananas (not fake ones we have in Europe) from a local seller — honestly, it was a small dream come true for me. The whole trip was organized the same day after I contacted them on WhatsApp and number was given by ChatGPT, and they picked me up directly from Moshi town to upper area. If you land in Kilimanjaro airport start from here - ask your aibnb host to get a taxi to Moshi. I highly recommend starting with this guys - real authetic experience of Africa.Posted on Tripadvisor

Kilimanjaro - Lemosho Route 8 days One of the best experiences I’ve ever had in life was climbing the Kilimanjaro. Materuni Tours is a well organized local company and it did everything great during my journey. Ambrose was always very attentive and took good care preparing the trekking. Emanuel was an amazing guide and helped me a lot during that 8 days. All the team did a great job: the guide, the cook and the porters!! None of that could have happened without them. I highly recommend Materuni Tours!Posted on Tripadvisor

Posted on Tripadvisor

7 day Machame Kilimanjaro & 2 day safari In February 2024 we climbed the Kilimanjaro using the Machame route in 7 days. The trek was organized by Materuni Tours, a local company. Ambrose, the owner of Materuni Tours knows his stuff and everything was very well organized. We had a great team of porters, the chef prepared delicious food and the guides were excellent. Also the stay at the Kilimanjaro Accommodation before and after the trek was very enjoyable with a great chef preparing meals on demand. The safari was a little bonus we had not planned before arriving in Moshi. It was again perfectly organized last minute by Ambrose. I truly recommend Materuni Tours, especially because it is locally owned.

How to Choose the Right Kilimanjaro Itinerary
Choosing the right Kilimanjaro itinerary is important for your comfort, safety and summit experience. Before booking, consider how many days you have available, the route you prefer, the difficulty of the climb and the time needed to adjust to the altitude. The right itinerary should fit your travel plans while allowing enough time for a gradual ascent.
Consider the Number of Days
Kilimanjaro climbs range from shorter itineraries to longer journeys of 8 or 9 days. Shorter climbs may suit travellers with limited time, while longer itineraries generally allow a more gradual ascent and additional time for acclimatization. If your schedule permits, consider an itinerary that gives your body more time to adjust to the altitude.
Choose a Route That Matches Your Preferences
Each Kilimanjaro route offers a different experience. The Lemosho Route is popular for its varied scenery, while the Machame Route combines beautiful landscapes with challenging trails. The Marangu Route offers mountain hut accommodation, the Rongai Route approaches from the quieter northern side, the Umbwe Route is steep and demanding, and the Northern Circuit provides a longer journey around the mountain.
Understand Acclimatization and Altitude
As you climb higher, the amount of available oxygen decreases, and your body needs time to adapt. Itineraries with more time for acclimatization generally provide better opportunities to adjust to the altitude. However, altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of fitness, and no itinerary can guarantee reaching the summit. Follow your guide’s advice and report any symptoms promptly.
Think About Your Fitness and Trekking Experience
You do not need to be an experienced mountaineer to climb Kilimanjaro, but you should prepare for several days of walking, uneven terrain, cold temperatures and high altitude. Regular walking, hiking and cardiovascular exercise can help you prepare. Choose an itinerary that matches your preparation and allows you to climb at a comfortable, steady pace.
Compare Prices and Package Inclusions
Before confirming your booking, compare the prices of the itineraries you are considering and check what each package includes. Look at park fees, guides, mountain crew, meals, accommodation, transfers and equipment arrangements. Also check exclusions such as international flights, travel insurance, personal trekking gear and crew tips so you can plan your total budget.

Most climbers choose an itinerary lasting between 5 and 9 days, depending on the route. Longer climbs generally allow a more gradual ascent and more time for acclimatization.
Which Kilimanjaro route is best for beginners?
Lemosho and Machame are popular choices, but the best route depends on the itinerary duration, acclimatization opportunities and your preferences. Beginners should consider a suitable longer itinerary rather than choosing based on route popularity alone.
What should I check before booking a Kilimanjaro itinerary?
Check the route, number of days, price, accommodation, daily schedule, acclimatization opportunities, package inclusions and exclusions. You should also confirm your equipment requirements, travel insurance and booking conditions before making a deposit.
What is included in a Kilimanjaro climbing package?
