Pick up at the airport and drive 227 kilometers to Tarangire National Park, one of the lesser-known parks on the northern circuit but with the largest concentration of species outside of the Serengeti! Tarangire is home to vast herds of elephants who visit the park in search of the Tarangire River's permanent water source. You will be given a picnic lunchbox to enjoy during your game drive. After you've had your fill of animals, you'll return to your Tarangire National Park lodging.
Rise early to enjoy a morning wildlife drive in this stunning park. You will leave the park late in the morning to travel to the Serengeti (literally "endless plains"), observing animals along the route as you pass through Ngorongoro Conservation Area for roughly 6 hours 49 minutes and 333.4 kilometers. You will arrive in the Serengeti in time for a late afternoon wildlife drive before heading to your National Park hotel.
With a full day in this world-renowned National Park, you'll have plenty of time to explore and spot the Serengeti's famous big cats. On your game drive, you will bring a packed lunch to eat at a lovely location. Following the wildlife drive, you will return to your National Park lodge for a sumptuous supper.
Breakfast at the lodge, followed by a morning and afternoon wildlife drive in the park. Perhaps this is the day to glimpse the elusive cheetah or a rare band of wild dogs. You will return to the same lodging for supper and sleep.
Get up early for a morning wildlife drive before returning to your lodge for breakfast. Then you'll travel 113 kilometers to Ngorongoro Crater, stopping to see animals along the route. Dinner will be made at your lodge, and you will spend the night there (be prepared for the sounds of zebras, maybe elephants, wandering around the area at night!)
Your final morning on safari will be spent in this area known for enormous herds of elephants and massive baobab trees dotting the landscape. Before heading for Arusha/Moshi (arrive 5-6pm), stop for lunch at the picturesque picnic location overlooking the Tarangire River.
Lake Manyara National Park is a short drive from Mto Wa Mbu. After breakfast, set off to visit this lovely small park. In September, you should have a decent chance of viewing the flamingos, which may sometimes blanket the entire lake, as well as perhaps spotting a tree-climbing lion. Lake Manyara offers some beautiful scenery to appreciate - a really scenic site to collect your last safari shots! After you've gotten your fill of wildlife, you'll drive back to Arusha / Moshi (arrive at 5pm) for around 5 hours and 239.9 kilometers.
