After breakfast, depart for the Umbwe Gate, where registration formalities will take place before your trek begins. The trail ascends sharply through lush montane rainforest, winding up along a steep forest track. You’ll enjoy the dense greenery and occasional wildlife calls before reaching Umbwe Cave Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Today, the rainforest thins as you enter moorland terrain. The ascent continues steadily up the Umbwe Ridge, offering panoramic views before flattening into the stunning Barranco Valley. You’ll join trekkers from the Machame Route as you settle at Barranco Camp.

By now, you’ll feel the effects of altitude at nearly 4,000 meters. Today is a crucial acclimatization day, allowing your body to adjust before pushing higher. Spend the day resting, soaking in spectacular views of the Kilimanjaro massif, or exploring the surrounding valley.

After a hearty breakfast, take on the Barranco Wall, one of the trek’s most thrilling sections. Though steep, the scramble is rewarding, and from the top you’ll enjoy sweeping views before descending into the Karanga Valley a beautiful spot framed by rugged ridges.

- Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
- Distance: 5 km
- Elevation Gain: +50 m

Continue along the Southern Circuit, encircling the mountain with breathtaking vistas of the summit from nearly every angle. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, rest early tomorrow’s the big day! Your guides will provide a final briefing for the midnight summit push.

Wake around midnight for your summit attempt. The climb is steep, cold, and demanding, but utterly rewarding. You’ll pass between the Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers, eventually reaching Stella Point (5,739 m) just as the sun rises over Africa an unforgettable moment.
From here, continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement, then begin your descent via the Mweka Route, reaching Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Passing through the montane forest, similar to your first day trekking, you will make your way down to Mweka Gate where you will sign out and exit Kilimanjaro National Park. From here you will picked up by our company transport and transferred back to our office in town where you will be presented with you certificate before returning to your hotel for a well-deserved rest!.
